Blogging Resolutions for 2008

Friday December 28, 2007

Whether you've been blogging for months or years or just thinking about launching a blog, the start of a new year is a great time to review your goals for your blog and determine your objectives for the next 12 months.

Here are a few tips to get you started on a blogging path to success in 2008:

  • Evaluate your landing page: Does your landing page (or home page) reflect the brand image and message you're trying to communicate to your audience? Will readers be confused when they reach your home page, or will they feel comfortable and know what to expect? Make the necessary changes to your home page in 2008 to create a consistent online image that meets your audience's expectations and helps drive reader loyalty.
  • Participate in social networking: Increase your use of social bookmarking and social networking in 2008 to drive traffic to your blog. Put a strong focus on leaving comments on other blogs and answering comments on your own blog to build a sense of community that helps attract new readers and keep those readers coming back.
  • Learn: Take some time in 2008 to learn something completely new about blogging. Take a course on HTML or CSS or investigate new ways to monetize your blog. It doesn't matter what you choose to learn about blogging in the next 12 months as long as you keep learning ways to make your blog fresh, interesting and interactive.
