Is It Okay to Use That Photo in Your Blog?

Wednesday February 27, 2008

One of the things bloggers struggle with is finding photos and images to use in their blog posts. Let's face it, photos and images can break up text heavy pages, and they can add that "something extra" to your blog. Writing great content is essential, but creating a visually appealing blog is also very important. The problem comes with finding photos and images that you are legally allowed to use on your blog without violating any copyright laws.

While there are many websites that offer free photos and images to use on your blog, many of those photos and images do have some type of copyright associated with them. Before you copy a photo or image from another website to re-use on your blog, make sure you understand creative commons licenses. Taking a few minutes to understand copyrights and creative commons licenses now can save you a lot of headaches and potentially legal trouble later.
