The Blogosphere is Growing Fast, Fast, Fast!

Saturday May 24, 2008

If you've questioned how many people are blogging and if that trend will continue into the foreseeable future, then you'll be very interested in projections made by eMarketer this month. According to eMarketer, 22.6 million U.S. Internet users (12% of U.S. Internet users) wrote blogs in 2007. That figure is expected to jump to 35 million U.S. Internet users (approximately 16% of the U.S. Internet population) by 2012.

If those numbers don't convince you of the power of the blogosphere, then take a look at eMarketer's projections for the number of people who will be reading blogs by 2012. According to eMarketer, 94.1 million U.S. Internet users (50% of U.S. Internet users) read blogs in 2007. That number is projected to skyrocket to 145.3 million U.S. Internet users (67% of the U.S. Internet population) by 2012.

There is no better time to join the growing blogosphere than the present. If you don't already have a blog, take a look at how you can start a blog here on About.com Web Logs. If you already have a blog and want to grow it further, read how to grow a blog, or if you want to find more ways to make money from your blog, check out how to monetize a blog.
