How to Increase Google Page Rank

Thursday May 21, 2009

A question I often get is how to increase Google page rank for a blog. Even though Google keeps the secrets of their algorithm and ranking process tightly guarded, there are a number of commonly accepted ways to increase your Google page rank. Most of these methods are based on bloggers and web site developers using simple trial and error, along with a dedication to tracking the statistics of their blogs and websites.

Read the 5 tricks to increase Google page rank for your blog to get started. Check your Google page rank on a website that offers a page rank checker such as PRChecker.info. Just visit this page, enter your blog's URL in the text box and select the Check PR button with your mouse (don't hit the Enter key on your keyboard, or it won't work). Learn what your blog's current page rank is, and then implement some of the tricks provided in the linked article above. Wait a few months and check your page rank again to see if it has changed. Google doesn't tell anyone when it re-calculates page rank, so there is no way of knowing in advance when your blog's page rank might change. Just keep checking and one day it should suddenly get higher.

Also, be sure to avoid doing anything that can hurt your Google page rank such as paying for text links, publishing duplicate content or pages with no original content!

I actually think people are better off targeting specific search terms than pagerank. I was very happy with my success in capturing top results for my targeted terms. Then I checked my websites Google pagerank using your link above — bummer! Perhaps ignorance is bliss.

Ted, I know what you mean. Google Page Rank is particularly of interest to bloggers who try to monetize their sites through advertising. Many advertisers use Google Page Rank to determine placement prices. Whether or not they should actually use that as a tool to value ad placement is up for debate with people who are quite vocal on both sides of the argument. That’s why every blogger is different and the statistics you concentrate on should be the ones that help you meet your personal goals for your blog. There isn’t a specific map you should follow — it depends on your goals.

Don’t be depressed if your page rank isn’t great but you’re happy with your blog. Some of the top blogs online have low page ranks for one reason or another.

Page rank is definitely important but not near is important to where you actually rank for certain keyword searches. Your site may outrank many sites for specific keyword searches and this is what matters. Pick some solid keywords and work on optimizing those.

We hope it will also strengthen the case for not only recognizing the enormous talents, assets, and contributions of young people, but also ensuring them greater opportunities to make a difference in their communities, and in our world. ,

My page rank in PR checker shows NA. It does show up in a google search though. In another article it says that this may be due to google not indexing or some error and it should return to normal in 2-3 days it has been a couple weeks but still says NA. Can’t figure out why :-(

Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing when Google will re-index and pick up your blog. You can try to speed up the process by submitting it to Google: http://weblogs.about.com/od/marketingablog/qt/SearchEngineSub.htm
