Is that Comment Real or Spam?

Some comments left on your blog are easy to identify as spam, but some are not. Those are the comments you need to be aware of and identify as spam or delete. Not only can spam comments negatively affect the user experience on your blog, but they can also become a big nuisance to you in terms of cluttering your email inbox with comment moderation notices.

Even the best blog comment spam blockers miss spam comments, because spammers get more clever and creative everyday. I breakdown the types of spam comments into 5 distinct categories:

  • The Gibberish Comments
  • The Link-Filled Comments
  • The 'Good Info' Comments
  • The .info, .ru, and Similar Comments
  • The Overly Complimentary Comments

You can get all the details and learn how to detect spam comments in my article, 5 Ways to Identify Blog Comment Spam.

Are there any other kinds of spam blog comments that you've encountered?
