Publishing guest blog posts on your blog is a great way to build your blog content and increase publishing frequency. It also gives your audience an opportunity to get new opinions and viewpoints and allows you to build relationships with guest writers. Publishing guest blog posts can also boost traffic to your blog, because most guest bloggers promote their guest posts on their own blogs, on Twitter, and across the social Web.

However, when you accept guest blog post submissions on your blog, you'll undoubtedly receive spam submissions, submissions that aren't a good match for your audience, and submissions that read like marketing pitches rather than useful content. Therefore, it's a good idea to publish guest blog post submission guidelines on your blog to weed out some of the guest posts that aren't appropriate for your blog and to have a place to refer people to when they ask why their guest post wasn't published.

Guest blog post submissions must adhere to the following guidelines to be considered for publishing on this blog:

  • All guest posts must be useful to this blog's audience.
  • All guest posts must be grammatically correct and free of spelling errors.
  • No guest posts may be self-promotional or include marketing links.
  • All guest posts may include a 2-3 sentence author bio, which will be published at the end of the guest post. 1-2 links to the author's website, blog or other branded online destination may be included in the bio.
  • All guest posts must be original.
  • No guest posts will be published that have already been published elsewhere online as verified by Copyscape.com or Plagium.com.
