Placing Other Entrecard Users' Ads on Your Blog

You have the option to approve or reject any ad that another Entrecard user submits to you. It's important to visit the sites of anyone who asks to advertise on your blog to ensure the content is appropriate to your audience before you approve it (you don't want to offend your readers).

The Benefits of Using Entrecard

Entrecard is a great tool to increase traffic to your blog. If your goal is to increase page views, than Entrecard is a great choice. The benefits of Entrecard are:

  • Earn money: Increased page views can lead to indirect blog monetization. Some of those people coming to drop off their business cards might click on another ad on your blog, which means money in your pocket.
  • Gain loyal readers: As other Entrecard members visit your blog to drop off their cards and earn Entrecard credits, some of them might discover they like your blog and come back again.
  • Increased word-of-mouth marketing: As more and more Entrecard members see your blog when they drop off their cards, they might remember your site and suggest it to a friend or family member who would be interested in your content.
  • Higher Alexa, Google and search rankings: Increased page views can help boost your Alexa or Google ranks, which will help your blog posts appear higher in search rankings bringing in more targeted traffic.
  • More (or higher paying) direct advertising opportunities: Increased page views can make your blog look more attractive to more advertisers as well as higher paying advertisers who may become interested in directly advertising on your blog.

Bottom-line

While Entrecard is very good at increasing the traffic to your blog, a lot of that traffic will come simply to drop off their own cards then leave, simply trying to earn credits for future advertising (which may not be on your blog).

It's also important to understand that Entrecard can require a significant time investment to be useful. You need to spend time earning credits before you can advertise on another site. Hopefully, your ad will generate traffic that will convert to more meaningful traffic to your blog from people who will become loyal readers.

Many Entrecard users want to advertise on the highly trafficked sites to generate a lot of additional traffic. Alternatively, many users take the time to select sites within a specific niche to drive targeted traffic to their sites. That means less traffic will be generated, but there is a greater chance for the traffic that does come from your ad to return to your blog again and again.

Bottomline, Entrecard is good at increasing page views but not necessarily good at increasing the amount of loyal readership to your blog. Watch your blog stats and see what people are doing when they visit your site through Entrecard. Then review your goals for your blog and determine how you can use Entrecard to help you meet those goals. As with any blog marketing or monetization opportunity, it's important that you align your efforts and results with your short and long term goals for your blog to determine where your time and money is best invested.
