How to Search Your Own Posts in Your X (Formerly Twitter) Feed

Use the advanced search tool

What to Know

  • Go to the advanced search tool and enter your handle in the From These Accounts field.
  • Search for posts from more than one account by entering multiple handles and separating each with a comma and space.
  • Alternatively, use "From:[username]" in the regular search bar.

This article explains how to search your own tweets on X (formerly Twitter) using a web browser or the official mobile app.

How to Use the Advanced Search Tool on X

X's basic search function is available from virtually every page or mobile app tab, but for more specific searches, you need to access its advanced search tool. Here's how:

  1. Navigate to twitter.com/search-advanced in a web browser.

  2. Locate the From These Accounts field and type in your own handle. This ensures that all of the search results you receive are only from your own account.

  3. Fill out at least one other field to help narrow down your results. If you just have a basic word or phrase to search, use the first All of these words field.

    You can also search by:

    • An exact phrase.
    • Any group of words.
    • None of a group of specific words.
    • Specific hashtags.
    • Any language.
    • Replies to specific users.
    • User mentions.
    • Locations.
    • Date or time period.
    • Happy face signs or sad face signs.
    • Question marks.
    • Retweets included.
  4. Click the Search button to see your results.

For example, to search for any tweets about Facebook from the @LifewireTech account, you would type "lifewiretech" in the From these accounts field and the word "Facebook" in the All of these words field.

After selecting Search, you see a regular search results page of all the posts from @LifewireTech containing the term "Facebook" listed in order of most recent.

You can also search for posts from multiple accounts. You can do that by typing multiple handles in the From these accounts field and separating each with a comma and space.

How to Find Your Posts on X Using the Regular Search Bar

You don't have to go to Advanced Search if you're only looking for posts from a single account. The regular search bar at the top of the screen supports special commands to help you narrow down an inquiry. Use the format "From:[username] [keyword(s)]" to quickly pull up posts from an account.

In the above example, you would type "From:lifewiretech Facebook" to find Lifewire posts that include the word "Facebook."

You can also use "To:[username]" in the search bar to find posts directed at a particular user.

Optional Alternative: Download Your Archive to Search Your Tweets

Advanced Search is the fastest way to search through your own posts, or for anyone's for that matter. But you can also get everything you've ever posted by downloading your entire archive. Here's how:

Go to More > Settings and privacy > Download an archive of your data. You need to enter your password to access the page. From there, select Request archive.

You might have to wait some time before you receive your archive, but when you do, it's in a ZIP file you can download to your computer. There you can access a list of your tweets in a spreadsheet format, which you can search through.
