Add More Features to Windows Live Writer with Free Plug-ins

Windows Live Writer is a great offline blog editor for PC users. It offers a wealth of features such as timestamping, image upload, tagging and more. The functionality doesn't stop with the initial free download of Windows Live Writer. There are many free plug-ins that bloggers can download to make blogging even easier!

To access the free Windows Live Writer plug-ins, simply follow these steps (note: if you haven't already downloaded and configured Windows Live Writer as your offline blog editor, you can follow the steps in the About.com Web Logs Windows Live Writer Tutorial to do so):

  1. Open Windows Live Writer on your desktop.
  2. Select "Tools" from the top navigation bar.
  3. Select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
  4. A new dialogue box will open. Select "Plug-ins" from the list on the left of the dialogue box.
  5. Select the link on the right that says "Add Plug-ins".
  6. You will automatically be taken to the Windows Live Gallery web page where you can browse and download free Windows Live Writer plug-ins that look useful to you.

    With free Windows Live Writer plug-ins, you can count the number of words in your posts, easily add Amazon affiliate link information, insert Picasa and Flickr images, insert screenshots, and much more.
