What is Plurk?
Plurk - A Blog Promotional and Networking Tool

By Susan Gunelius, About.com

Plurk works similarly to Twitter as a microblogging site that allows users to share short snippets or messages with each other called plurks. Users publish "plurks" publicly or privately for only other Plurkers within their "cliques" to view.

Plurk offers some additional functionality including the ability to view a thread of connected plurks (similar to Pownce) rather than one message (as Twitter allows). Additionaly, YouTube, Flickr, Photobucket and other services are supported, and there is a private messaging system. A scrollable timeline and a mobile option are also features that users review positively.

Users sign up to follow other people's plurks, which makes it a great networking tool as well as a great source for free publicity.
