What is Pownce?
Pownce - A Blog Promotional and Networking Tool

By , About.com Guide

Note: Pownce is no longer operational.

Pownce is a microblogging tool similar to Twitter. It allows users to send short messages to each other and "follow" other users who they like.

What sets Pownce apart from other microblogging tools like Twitter or Plurk is its threading capability. Users consider the threading of messages within Pownce to be superior to the same service offered through other microblogging tools (or not offered at all in the case of Twitter). Additionally, Pownce users are not limited to the 140-character message cap that other microblogging platforms require.

Pownce debuted in 2007 and still has a small community in relation to bigger players in the microblogging market such as Twitter, but it still offers a way to spread the word about your blog and network with other people in an effort to drive traffic to your blog.
