Wordpress 2.8 Coming June 10, 2009

Wordpress 2.8 is due to be released on June 10, 2009 unless any unusual problems are encountered before then. The new version includes a lot of great new features that I can't wait to try! I know many users will be thrilled to use the new theme features, the drag and drop widgets and the functionality that will allow you to use the same widget in more than one widget area.

If you're wondering if you should upgrade to the latest and greatest version of Wordpress or not, my suggestion is to upgrade. I have been lazy in the past and not upgraded one of my blogs until several new versions had been released and I realized I had no choice but to upgrade. It did not go well. Remember, Wordpress 2.7 has an automatic upgrade feature in it that you can easily run, and if you haven't upgraded to Wordpress 2.7 yet, read this article to learn how to do it in just four steps.

Check the Wordpress development blog for status updates, and remember, you only need to be concerned with upgrading your blog if you use Wordpress.org.
